Fall Cleaning: Not the Closet… the Inbox!

When your Inbox gets too full, it slows you down and makes it harder to find what you need when you need it. Just like a closet, it benefits from a seasonal clean-up.

Here are a few steps to get started:

· Delete!  Start with old reminders, confirmations, and outdated updates. These add up quickly and don’t serve a purpose after the moment has passed.

· Unsubscribe.  If you don’t read them, or you rarely shop at that store, stop them at the source. This is one of the easiest ways to cut down on the daily flood of emails.

· Use Folders or Labels.  Create a few simple categories like “Work,” “Receipts,” or “Personal.” It doesn’t have to be complicated, but storing emails a specific place makes it easier to find them later.

· Search and Delete in batches. Search by sender or keyword (like “newsletter” or “sale”), select all and delete. This saves time over going one by one.

· Create Rules. If certain emails are useful but not urgent, have them skip your main inbox and land directly in a folder. That way, your inbox only shows what matters most.

Spending a little time now means less stress later. Every time I clean my Inbox, it makes it easier to focus and helps let the important emails stand out.
