Winter Riding Gear: Warmth and Comfort for the Commuter.

It’s coming to the end of the season for most (but not all) of us e-bike commuters. Some of us, like myself, are a bit on the crazy side when it comes to e-bikes and ride year-round. Personally, I don’t ride in the snow or on ice, but I’ll ride as long as it’s above 10 degrees, so having proper riding gear is critical for this. I’ve been doing a bit of research, because it’s about time I refresh all of my gear.

For riders who want an extra boost of warmth, heated gear is worth considering. Brands like Gerbing and FirstGear offer heated jackets, vests, gloves, and other gear designed specifically for riders. These systems can use rechargeable batteries, giving you adjustable warmth when you need it most, both on and off the bike.

Don’t forget that the hands, feet, and neck areas can get cold quickly while riding. Heated gloves or glove liners, warm riding boots, and a good neck gaiter can make a noticeable difference. Just be sure your winter gear still fits properly and allows you to operate the controls comfortably.

Riding in the cold doesn’t have to be miserable, and the right gear makes it a heck of a lot more tolerable.
