iPhone Typos

April 8, 2026

Dear Diary,

Recently, a Wall Street Journal tech columnist posted on social media that iPhone users have been emailing WSJ for years, complaining that typing on the iPhone has been driving them bananas. Within the last year, WSJ has gotten even more complaints about iPhone’s autocorrect feature. Finally - someone’s validating my experience!

If you know me personally, you’re either getting a voice note or I am dictating texts to Siri. I absolutely hate typing on my phone these days. And now I know I’m not the only one. Apparently, there was a keyboard flaw in that when you typed a character, it wouldn’t insert it into the text box. Apple’s released iOS 26.4, which is supposed to fix this issue. WSJ tested with two iPhones – one without the update and one with, and the results weren’t perfect, but certainly improved.

As we speak, I’m updating my phone in hopes that it will make a difference. Will report the results soon!

Dear Diary,

After the update in April, I didn’t have much hope. I was still making tons of mistakes. This was either due to me not trusting my phone to make the corrections or because there could have been updates since then. I’ve tested typing random sentences into my Notes app, and it’s done a good (great, really) job of predicting and correcting. However, typing in texts is still a problem. I am constantly hitting the return key. I’ll give it a bit more trial and error, but I will still use dictation and voice notes like crazy.
